When
deciding how to structure the charity the organisers (Colin's parents,
brother, girlfriend and other close friends) were keen to maintain
the sense of challenge. It was decided that this should be done
in 3 ways;
-
the applicant must put forward a suggestion of an activity they
would like to take part in,
- the
activity itself should be challenging in some way intellectually
or physically,
- the
fund will provide part of the overall amount required, the remaining
portion being raised by the individual.
Applications
meeting these criteria will be considered, and there will be no
limit on the size or number of grants made each year other than
the capacity of the fund at that time. Although not a formal requirement
of the application, activities would ideally have a theme of helping
others.
Each
application will be judged on its merits and against other applications
being made at the same time. The closing date for applications is
31st March each year. Awards will be announced and issued soon after
that date.
The
applicant should be between 16 and 25 years years of age and should
live, work or study in Tyne & Wear.
The
final requirement of the application is that they produce a small
journal (with photographs) of their activity. This can then be used
in future advertising of the charity.
Applications
for 2004 are now closed. If you would like to apply to the
fund for sponsorship in 2005, please submit an application
form. The deadline for applications is 31st March 2005.
